人造石按照生产工艺的不同，可分为树脂型、复合型、硅酸盐和烧结型四种类型。

树脂型：以不饱和聚酯树脂为胶黏剂制成，光泽好、颜色鲜艳丰富，可加工性强、装饰效果好，为室内装饰用人造石的主要品种。适用于酒店、餐厅、咖啡厅、会所、KTV、售楼处、办公室、住宅等。

复合型：采用复合胶黏剂制成，造价较低，质地较坚挺，受温差影响后聚酯面易产生剥落或开裂。适用于餐厅、咖啡厅、会所、KTV、办公室等。

硅酸盐：以各种水泥为胶结材料制成，代表性石材为水磨石，生产取材方便，价格低，但装饰性较差。适用于酒店、餐厅、咖啡厅、会所、KTV、售楼处、办公室、住宅等。

烧结型：生产方法与陶瓷工艺相似，装饰性好，性能稳定，生产能耗大，造价高。适用于酒店、会所、售楼处、住宅等。
